Enmore Road, Newtown, NSW

Located on a prominent on Enmore Rd in Newtown and previously the long-term offices of the former Newtown & Enmore Starr-Bowkett Building Co-Op Societies, this is one of our highest profile projects to date.  Designed as a dramatic feature appropriate to its corner site, the building is intended to address what was a “missing-tooth” in the streetscape.

 

Retaining parts of the existing façade and signage to retain ties to the historical use of the site, we have still managed to squeeze 5 apartments, a new commercial tenancy with attached rear courtyard, separate residential entrance courtyard and 3 undercover car parking spaces along the rear lane.  All on a site of just 272 square metres!

 

The resulting form is dramatic and appropriate for the prominent location yet sympathetic to the scale & form of the heritage conservation area.
